This is the second time my husband and I have eaten at an Art House Cafe; the first time at this location, though. This time, we brought my Mom who was visiting.
The overall experience was great! Although this location is cozier and doesn't have an art museum attached, it's near the water and has outside seating.
Reservations are not NEEDED, but we made them. We're glad we did; someone started setting up for a birthday party about 30 minutes after we arrived, so the inside seats were even more limited. Incoming guests had to wait for an inside table or sit outside.
The Pros:
- It's on the promenade near the water and has a great view.
- All three entrees we ordered were hot, fresh, cooked-to-order, and delicious. We ordered tagliatelle w white sauce & shrimp, salmon w vegetables, and penne w white sauce & chicken.
- The Groupon covered the cost of the food, beverages, plates for painting, and painting supplies. Although the Groupon cannot be used for barbecue ribs, tenderloin cut of meat, or seabream, there are PLENTY of entrees to choose from.
- It's a quaint restaurant with a chill vibe.
- The on-duty manager Peter and the waitress Bridget were exceptionally friendly and professional. Even though they were working non-stop helping to set up for the party and attending to diners, they were both attentive and polite.
- Painting is a fun after-dinner activity, even for non-artists like us.
The Cons:
- Upon our arrival, Marisol 'greeted' us with an eye-roll and tossed us some menus. After speaking to her first, she finally curtly asked, "For three?' I am unsure why, but even when she brought us the supplies for painting, she was impolite.
- The dining room is small. There are fewer than 10 tables. Make a reservation.
- We had to pay to park in the nearby garage.
Been there twice now. Quite expensive. The food was terrible the first time we went but came back and had a different thing from the menu and it was very good. My kids loved the plate painting and the overall atmosphere was nice. Pleasant staff as well. Too expensive though so won’t be back very often.
